Name: Film Screening: Rashômon
Date: September 5, 2018
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Join Pike School of Art - Mississippi Wednesday, September 5 at 7PM for a free screening of director Akira Kurosawa's film, Rashômon. Brimming with action while incisively examining the nature of truth, Rashômon is perhaps the finest film ever to investigate the philosophy of justice. Through an ingenious use of camera and flashbacks, Kurosawa reveals the complexities of human nature as four people recount different versions of the story of a man's murder and the rape of his wife.

Rashômon marked the entrance of Japanese film onto the world stage; it won several awards, including the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1951, and an Academy Honorary Award at the 24th Academy Awards in 1952, and is now considered one of the greatest films ever made.
